Hi all I have been tasked with moving all mailboxes and public folders from our old exchange 2k server to a new more powerful exchange 2k server. My question what is the correct way to do this? I have already installed Exchange on the new server.
Thanks for any help

Hello skipster311,
I can strongly recommend you do this by following the Ed Crowley server move method, checkout the following link:

What about moving an existing Exchange 2003 installation to a new server? We were money tight when we implemented Exchange 2000 so we ended up putting it on a high-end Dell workstation. It runs fine, but I want the sleeping aid of knowing the hard drive is being mirrored should it fail, etc.. I upgraded Exchange 2000 to 2003 already, so does this trick still apply to 2003 or is there an easier way? Is it as simple as setting up another Exchange 2003 server (the new one), moving the mailboxes over and uninstalling Exchange 2003 from the old server? Also, after I upgraded from 2000 to 2003 it still thinks it's 2000 on some parts, but the actual system, etc. is 2003, it says so in System Manager. But then System Manager didn't get upgraded in the process for some reason either, I had to load System Manager for 2003 on another computer to get the new management console for exchange. Should I run the upgrade process again or leave it as is?
