Hi,

I need some help, this is the first time that I am performing an exchange implementation from scratch. I am running a W2K3 AD with a single E2K3 server. This is running on a DSL line from Embarq. Internally e-mails can be sent and received. But when I try to send to the internet, I receive an NDR. Also, if someone tries to send from the external, they receive an NDR.

I dont seem to be able to get access to port 25 from the external, but internally I can telnet with no problem.

Can anyone help me?

Use telnet to test both inbound and outbound communcation on port 25.  Check with your DSL carrier.  It is entirely possible that they are either blocking port 25, or that outbound mail must be forwarded to a gateway.

Thanks for the info. I have tested telnet and internally it works fine, but trying it outside the network it doesnt even connect. I have also spoken with the Embarq tech support and they indicate that they are not blocking port 25, but I have a feeling they are, most ISPs do. Any other suggestions?

1) Get a new ISP
2) If you can't, see if they give you POP accounts as part of their pricing.  Use the SMTP settings they provide with the POP to set up an outbound SMTP connector in Exchange to get around outbound port 25 blocking.
