Environment:

Single Site / Single Server (5.5)

We used to have a two server site, and a couple of years ago all of the mailboxes/PF were consolidated to the one server.

Our old server still exists in our site. And the server is no longer around. So the usual way to remove an Exchange server is out of the question.

Is it safe to just Delete the server out of my site?
Please help.

I am wanting to clean up my site prior to my exchange 2003 migration (which we are going to start soon).

I'm not quite sure what you think the normal method of removing a serve from a site is, but deleting it is the only way I know how to do it, as described in:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/189286/EN-US/

Presumably you (or whoever it was turned off that previous server) checked to see if it was the first server in the site before removing it, and implemented the correct procedure? See:
