We see quite alot of issues that can be / may be sorted out if one is able to see the network "handshaking" with the exchange server (and between the servers themselves). There is a wide variety of netmons and sniffers out there. The AppDancer.com free trial is easiest if decoding at the frame level is not your cup of tea.
