Hi

I need to build a new exchange server as our old one is w2k with Exchange 2003 Enterprise and a bit clunky. Anyway have read loads of good migration tips, procedures etc. However my question is as I already have al my data on luns that I can easily detach/attach (Net App Filer using Snap Manager for SQL) is the move mailboxes process still the best (if very time consuming) option available to me and create new luns?

Appreciate the advice

Whilst you can SnapMirror from one volume to another and then do a final cut-over when you're ready I wouldn't. It's pretty much all about NTFS versions, surprisingly. If you were going from one bit of 2003 hardware to another then fine, i'd just tell you to stop everything and flip the iSCSI initiator group ownership from old to new and go down the pub early.
Since you're starting from a 2000 box I'd suggest you did the old mailbox move process to go from one server to another in your own time.
If you have to do this the quick way then you will be ok. Give your NetApp support contract a quick work-out and they can look at your volumes. If you want to email me your Filer serial number I can look at it for you (as long as you are on autosupport otherwise I won't be able to see a Martini report). Better yet, email me your Martini.

Have emailed you Mark. I do get the nice feeling of knowing the server is all running properly this way I guess.
