I have an issue. Any new user in active directory cannot receive inbound email but they can send emails. Existing users can send and receive emails without issues. This is too wierd. Any ideas? This just started this past week. Thanks Luis

Do you have any type of recipient filter that needs to be updated with the newly created addresses? Does this happen only for external messages, or does it happen for internal messages also? What happens to messages sent to a new user? Does it bounce? What NDR is returned?

The recipient filter is updating fine because the email addresses are being generated. This only happens with external emails. Internal work just fine. When I look at their smtp emails, the external ones are there. The messages never bounce and no NDR is generated. Thanks for your inputs. Luis

For issues like this, I use telnet to give me a different perspective. I wrote up some instructions in a blog article. Best results come from performing the test from a system outside your network.

Thank you. The test message goes through fine. The first time I do the mail from:email@domain.com, it says that user does not exist. Then the second time I do it, it works. Now if I do the mail from part from an existing user, it works the first time everytime. Thanks for the help. I am still working this one. Luis

What about the third time? If that also works, I've encountered some recipient filters that act that way (rejects the first time but enters the sending address / valid recipient address combination into the approved list). After you get one message to go through for a recipient, does it then work from other external addresses?

I have tried everything from disabling GFI, reinistalling GFI, reinstalling exch Sp2, and running a -fix -alltest on the databases per another suggestion. No errors no where. I then ran EBPA tool, the only thing I see is that the Recipeint Update Service is waiting for a full update. It has me use ASDI edit to chacnge the update to False from tru, but it is alreadys set that way. Should I reinstall exchange with the reinstall switch? Again this only happens with new user accounts. Existing accounts have no issues. Thanks Luis

Don't do anything to Exchange without having a specific goal in mind. You didn't answer the questions I asked about subsequent attempts to send to addresses. Exchange doesn't arbitrarily choose to not deliver messages. It either works all the time or none of the time. I still feel it's something else causing your issue. When the messages fail, do they appear in the Message Tracking log? What about the SMTP log?

I don't know all the setup of the Exchange system, ho is doing the MX handling, but might it be as simple as adding a delivery entry to the POP connector to the new users mailbox
