No connection whena DAG member rebooted - 29.Feb.2012 11:51:41 AM

I have two nodes with two servers each for a total of 4 servers. All servers hold the identical roles (CAS, MBX, HUB).
databases are on server 1 and database copies are on server2 at one location and the same configuration at location two but separate node (two DAG networks)
If the active databases or moved to either servers in the node mail works fine, also auto activation works fine as well if a server becomes unavailable.
The issue occurs if server one is rebooted (with all active databases moved to server 2 before reboot) no clients can connect via outlook or even OWA, status is disconnected. As soon as server one comes back online all works again. The databases remain mounted during the unavailability time and clients can ping server two the entire time
so dagnetwork1 has server 1 server 2
dagnetwork2 has server 3 and server 4
Public folders are on server 2 and server 4
Databases are normally on server 1 and server 3 with database copies on server 2 and server 4
dagnetwork1 and dagnetwork2 are at different datacenters with different subnets
if server1 is shutdown or rebooted (with databases activated on server 2) no clients with mailboxes on that node can access. Mail via outlook (2003, 2007, 2010) or OWA
if server1 and server2 are up does not matter which server active databases are on clients can access fine
The same is true if server3 is shutdown then users in that node cannot access mail but users in node 1 can
All 4 servers are virtual (VMware 4.1) running server 2008 R2 all are patches including 3 hot fixes suggested by Microsoft, latest VMware tools and all VMware patches applied.
I do have a case open with Microsoft but getting nowhere yet. It is being handled by the cluster group as they are thinking it is a cluster service issue

Anyone else encounter this issue or have any suggestions?

What does the cluster event log tells you? And when this issue occurs what does the following cmdlet give you:

Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus -Identity databasename | Format-List
