I'm trying to install Norton Antivirus for Exchange 2.5 version. I want to use the domain admin account to manage the antivirus software. But the account cannot be activated during the installation and an error message saying that the Information Store service cannot open. I've checked that the service is running properly. What else could I do?

If your running E2k, check that AV is compatible w/ E2k

If your running E2k SP1, check that the AV is compatible w/ E2k SP1 (new AV API)

Norton Antivirus for Microsoft Exchange 2.5 is compatible with Exchange 2000 sp1 and sp2. When installing you have to create a new service acount I don't think you can use the administrator account. Here is a link to the instructions: http://service2.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/d75a3b1e1929789b852567ac006431d3/f93c231d3f77914c88256a3000768099?OpenDocument

It also has information about not being able to create a service account. I am not very familiar with this program so I could be wrong. I think you may get a better solution if you ask Symantec/Norton about this situation. It has more to do with the antivirus product than Exchange.

Hope I was some help.

Thanks very much for your help! Finally I can install the Antivirus program with the domain admin account. I am using Exchange 2000 Server with SP2.
