Hi all,

I've just in the process of moving from exchange 2003 to 2007 and currently have them both running with a few mailbox's on the 2007 server.

People still on the 2003 server all get sync issues for the offline address book.

Below are the errors on the 2003 server.

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeSA
Event Category: OAL Generator
Event ID: 9340
Date:  22/07/2008
Time:  10:36:01
User:  N/A
Computer: KHMX
Description:
A new parent Legacy Exchange DN container value '/o=First Organization/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients' was found during generation of the differential update file for offline address list '\Global Address List'.  This will force clients using this offline address list to do a full download of the offline address list.

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeSA
Event Category: OAL Generator
Event ID: 9109
Date:  22/07/2008
Time:  11:10:08
User:  N/A
Computer: KHMX
Description:
OALGen encountered an error 80040307 (internal ID 50202b6) while generating address list '\Global Address List'.  Check other logged events to see if this is a serious error.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeSA
Event Category: OAL Generator
Event ID: 9360
Date:  22/07/2008
Time:  10:36:01
User:  N/A
Computer: KHMX
Description:
OALGen encountered an error while generating the changes.oab file for version 2 and 3 differential downloads of address list '\Global Address List'.  The offline address list has not been updated so clients will not be able to download the current set of changes.  Check other logged events to find the cause of this error.
If the cause of the problem was intentional or cannot be resolved, OALGen can be forced to post a full offline address list by creating the DWORD registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeSA\Parameters\OAL post full if diff fails' and setting it to 1 on this server.  When OALGen next generates the offline address list, clients will perform a full OAB download.  After that time, the registry key should be removed to prevent further full downloads.

I don't want to move everyone onto the new exchange server yet, is there a way to get the OAB working for the people still on the 2003 server?

Thanks in advance

Turn up the Diagnostic logging.  It should be reporting as to why it cannot generate both level 2 and level3a diffs.
Try utilizing http://blogs.msdn.com/dgoldman/archive/2005/08/28/oabinteg-and-how-to-use-it-to-troubleshoot-oab-generation-issues.aspx  to nail down the issue.  Dgoldman is the God of OAB, so that  blog has everything.
