Environment..

Single 2000 mixed AD domain
Previously win2k server with exch2k server (now removed off of that server)
only single exch2k7 server
all mail routing properly

only issue is after the removal of the exchange services on the other server OAB issues have grown and now gotten crippling

the other admin in my environment removed the old exch2k application so I am unsure the steps he took in doing so. There was a single OAB on the 2k7 mail server named "Default Offline Address Book". Users were, and are still are getting the error...

Task 'Microsoft Exchange' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'The operation failed. An object cannot be found.'

as typical this is only affecting users profiles set up in Cached mode. All fully online profiles see the GAL correctly and all new users.

In hopes of removing any traces to the older OAB on the originating server, I deleted the bad OAB and then created a new one just called "Offline Address Book" to make sure it had a slightly different name. Did this with zero luck

even went so far as to delete all .OAB files from my PC with no luck. Kind of at my wits end as to why just the cached mode users are affected. It appears it either isn't being created successfully or the users aren't pulling it down correctly..

Let me know if there are any other pieces of info I can supply..

Do you have Offline Address book assigned to Mailbox store (client settings tab)? Is your OAB generation working ok on new ex2k7? switch on event logging by running set-eventloglevel -id "MSExchangeSA\OAL Generator" -Level Medium and try to update Offline Address book. Check logs for any errors.

Hello all,

I have a similar issue.

I just was through a transition from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. I have replicated my Public Folder and I have decommissioned exchange 2003 server.
I am now getting Event 9331 and 9335 when updating Offline address book.

The following event ID messages is logged in the application event log:

Event 9331
OALGen encountered error 80004005 (internal ID 50101ee) accessing the public folder store while generating the offline address list for address list '/'.
- Default Offline Address List

Event 9335
OALGen encountered error 80004005 while cleaning the offline address list public folders under /o=my org/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address List. Please make sure the public folder store is mounted and replicas exist of the offline address list folders. No offline address lists have been generated. Please check the event log for more information.

I also receive error on outlook client (2000 and 2007) when I download offline address book.

Hi All,
I have resolved my problem.

I have set the replication to Offline Address Book system folder.

[PS] C:\>set-publicfolder -Identity "\NON_IPM_SUBTREE\OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK\/o=Mycompany/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address List" -replicas "myserver\Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database"

Now all works fine.
