Hi Guys, I need help as i face this problem once again, "loading" error. I fixed this problem in the past by removing the exchange server from the domain and then reinstalling from scratch. Currently i have tried reseting the IIS folders but have had no luck, the page still does not load properly and i still get the error below.... What can i do or try to fix this problem. It is a stand alone system. Event Type: Warning Event Source: MSExchangeMU Event Category: General Event ID: 1040 Date: 11/20/2004 Time: 8:41:38 PM User: N/A Computer: MAIL1 Description: Metabase Update failed replication 5 times with error 80070003 (The system cannot find the path specified.). Please change the diagnostic logging level of MSExchangeMU to 'minimum' or greater to find the source of the problem. For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.

How many exchange servers are there with you? You have a get a good working OWA on the Back-end server before accessing that via the front-end servers On the BE server: ============ * Are you able to access any images "pagerror.gif" * Try accessing iisstart.hm * Then what is the status of a sample asp page ======== <%=now%> ======== paste the above line in a notepad, save that as time.asp at c:\inetpub\wwwroot location From IIS, try accessing this time.asp Then, try accessing OWA from BE servers. If still loading, access from any other client machines *Try, trusting the URL from the clients browser *do you have any Antivirus installed on the BE servers? Can you disable the same and try OWA? If not, atleast exclude all the exchange related folders from AV.

Try the following article, if the username and passwords for the IUSR_ComputerName and IWAM_ComputerName accounts are out of synch within the IIS metabase and User Manager, you will get the loading issue. PRB: Configured Identity Is Incorrect for IWAM Account http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=297989 James Chong (MVP) MCSE | M+, S+, MCTS, Security+ msexchangetips.blogspot.com

After changing the passwords it seems to be working but i need to monitor it for 1-2 days. However the event id 1040 is still appearing in the logs, what could be causing this problem?

The fix will prob work but break again if you're having metabase update issues, the passwords will again be out of synch. What is the last thing that you did? Did you reinstall\install change anything? James Chong (MVP) MCSE | M+, S+, MCTS, Security+ msexchangetips.blogspot.com

Okkk i have finally got rid of the 1040 error message by removing the smtp connector and so far it's all good. OWA is also fine but i will have to see how it all goes. Any ideas why the smtp connector would have fixed the 1040 error?

Hi! Which errors do you have? This: An error occurred while starting the Microsoft Exchange IMAP4 Service: the call to IIS_SERVICE::StartServiceOperation() failed with error 0x8007077f. For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp Or maybe this: The rule (<rule id>) with sequence number <value> is being disabled due to errors encountered while applying the rule. The distinguished name of the owning mailbox is <mailbox name>. Database "<name>". Or this: The rule (<rule>) with sequence number <number> is being disabled due to errors encountered while applying the rule. The distinguished name of the owning mailbox is ---. Database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (SERVER)". Can you describe you error accurately?

Can you change logging level of MSExchangeMU to Maximum or to level 7, and then see error log.

I starting to think that my only option is to remove exchange and IIS??? Start from scratch and then import user messages from backup? What do you guys think? Should i fully remove exchange and reinstall?
