Exchange 2003 server. OWA now asks for the username and password twice after one of the admin changed the authintication setting on the default website and accepted the setting to be replaced on all child nodes. Users can login fine and work normally after they enter the username and password twice.
Any idea what might be causing this? We tried many combinations but nothing worked.
Thanks

Sorry, this should be in the exchange 2003 thread and not the 2010.

HI newone,

I think your authentication methods may be set incorrectly.

Perform the following in ESM (NOT IIS).

1) In ESM expand your "Servers"
2) Expand the server that takes incoming connections
3) Expand "Protocols"
4) Expand "HTTP"
5) Expand "Exchange Virtual Servers"
6) Right Click on the virtual directory, "Exchange" and select "Properties".
7) Click the "Access" tab and then click "Authentication"
8) You should only have "Basic Authentication" selected and the default domain or a backslash "\" enetered in the "default domain" field.

If this is set correctly, go into IIS manager and check the following:

1) Expand your "Web Sites"
2) Right click on "Exchweb" => "Properties" and select the "Directory Security Tab". Click on "Edit" under "Access control and authentication control" (Should be the first box)
3) Make sure ONLY anonymous access is selected.
4) Expand "Exchweb" virtual directory.
5) Right Click on the "bin" => "Properties" and select "Directory Security" tab. Click on "Edit" under "Access control and authentication control" (Should be the first box)
6) Make sure ONLY anonymous access is selected.

You may need to restart IIS after making the changes...

Let me know if this helps..................
