GAH! Ok, installed OWA pointing to the test server just fine. When it points to the real thing, however, it doesn't work. When attempting to log on, I get the error message

"The Microsoft Exchange server is down or the HTTP Service has been disabled by an administrator. Please try your request again later."

HTTP and LDAP are both enabled, anon access is enabled, etc. I get the primary screen and the logon box pops up, but once a successful username and PW are entered, it doesn't work! Any ideas, folks? I'd appreciate any help I can get. I'm running into dead ends everywhere. Thanks!

So does anyone have any possible solutions for me? I've tried everything I've found on TechNet (which broke all sorts of other things... fixed now...) and still have nothing.

Make sure that on the Exchange Vitual Directory Security Tab you have both Anonymous and Basic Clear Text checked. Also, beside the Basic Clear Text is an edit button, ensure that there is a Domain selected. (The one OWA resides in) If Exchange and OWA are in diff Domain, you must establish a trust.

Also, if OWA is to be accessible via the Internet, ensure that a public address exists. If possible, use NAT on your firewall to your private IP address.

Let me know if this helps.

Sounds like you're talking about Exchange 2000. Perhaps I should have been more specific... my bad. I'm running Exchange 5.5 w/ SP4. As far as NATing to the box, it's in our DMZ so there's no need for NATing. I'm still at a loss here if anyone has anything else to offer.

How did you install the OWA services on the secondary server? I have done about 10 of these 2 server installs with EXCH 5.5 SP4 and they have all worked. My guess is something with the installation of your web server. Are you using IIS 4.0 from the NT Options Pack? Also have you installed NT SP6a as well?

i've had similar problems with what you are describing as well. What I ended up finding was that the Anonymous account being used for the web access became invalid some how.
What I did was create a new anonymous account and make the appropriate changes for that change within IIS. I'm not sure what happened to that account but I do know that once I changed the account it worked out fine. Are you using SSL at all or just straight HTTP traffic?
