OK, I am positive that the solution is already here in the forums, but I have no idea what exactly I am looking for. Our sysadmin at our school (small, private school) left and the job has been given to me for the time being. I am knowledgeable about desktop systems, but get a little confused with networking beyond my home network. I am learning, though! Here's my problem - OWA was working just find until Monday. As far as I know, no changes were made to the server. Now, when a teacher tries to access OWA, there is a connection reset page OR, it is the login page for our comcast cable modem. I tried to look at a few different things as far as redirecting pages, and haven't found anything that makes sense to me. On the comcast settings, I don't see anything that would allow or deny access to OWA. In fact, I'm not quite sure why that even comes up. Our OWA was set up so that it could be accessed by going to mail.ssbschool.com. When I try mail.ssbschool.com/exchange, I see another error that the page is not found. I am at a loss. Oh, I just tried it again and from the server it works. From computers that are connected to the network, it works. Isn't that a little bit backwards?

It sounds like your incoming http requests are being handled by your modem's administration web site, rather that being passed into the network. Have a look at the modem config web page again, and either turn off the web admin feature (the safest option), or tell it to use a different port. While you are there, tell the modem to forward incoming port 80 (and/or 443 if you use SSL) traffic to your OWA server.

OK, I found the port forwarding section for port 80, but I do not know where to forward it. I know this is basic stuff for people that do this every day, but I am literally brand new to this position. How do I find what my OWA server's address is?

You need to forward it to the local IP address of the OWA server. Try pinging its LAN name, and see what IP address it resolves to. Probably something beginning with 192. or 10.

I am getting more and more frustrated because I know this should be really easy. When I try to forward my ports, an error message pops up and says "Server IP isn't in LAN IP address subnet" what? huh? how is it not there? I cannot find a way to disable this thing. How did this happen in the first place? We have a sonicwall router. could it be a setting in there?

Can you find a setting that tells the router what it's internal IP address and subnet are? It is probably complaining that the address you are forwarding to doesn't belong to the configured internal subnet.
