Hi,
In an installation process, I mistakenly removed the Exchange orgnization from active directory (E2k3 EE.)
Then, after several retries, I managed to bring the whole thing up again, including the old database, with one problem:
When a user starts Outlook 2003, a new mailbox is created in in the information store and my question is:
How to open Outlook to the old user mailbox, instead of having the system creating a new one.  And, if that is not possible, how to access that mailbox so to transfer the data to the new user mailbox.
Thanks
Yba

you can simply bring in the old databases and log files back into play as long as the new exchange organization and administrative group names matches the original one.

Hi,
It's all ok now, except for one thing.
Event id 9330 and 9126 indicating that the offline address list can not be accessed, or possibly corrupt or missing.  The remedy in the MS KB article does not apply here as I do not have that entry.
Now, Outlook synchronization task fails repeatedly because of this and it is annoying.  Any help is appreciated.
Note:  When reconnecting mailboxes to users, the Exchange event log logged event ID 9554 which reads "Unable to update Mailbox SD in the DS. Mailbox Guid: 154f84ce-7855-49b8-b816-88e13d286477. Error Code 0x8004010f " for as much as reconnected mailboxes.
After some digging, I came to realize that user X (as derived by ADFIND utility) has a mailbox GUID in the Exchange event log that is very little bit different from the msExchMailboxGuid in the ADSIEdit utility.  Again with
ADFIND utility, both GUIDs resolve to the same user X!!
Here is how both GUIDS look.  Please notice that they are identical after some shifts:
83 F7 5F 77 0C 0C FD 49 B0 4D 14 56 3C B3 90 21
77 5F F7 83 0C 0C 49 FD B0 4D 14 56 3C B3 90 21

Thanks

The real question is how did you get everything back in to your active directory after you deleted it??? Can you elaborate on this a bit??

Did you do an authoratative restore of your active directory configuration and domain naming containers?

If you reinstalled exchange from scratch and re-ran /forestprep and /domainprep, you are essentially creating a brand spanking new org. By doing this your active directory is not going to contain the place holder objects for your OAB data, thus causing the problems that you are seeing.

The 9554 is in regard to the mailbox permissions being modified. You can look at this article for more information:

Hi,
Here is what happened, simply.
While removing the old Exchange, the Exchange org was removed from the AD, which is spontaneous in the removal process.
When installing the new Exchange, in this case from scratch, forestprep and domainprep are a requirement.  I did that with the same old org name.  That way, I managed to reconnect users accounts to their restored mailboxes.  And, there came this OAL issue.
Now, I understand that by using forestprep and domainprep, the AD no longer recognizes my old OAL.  Besides, none of the resolutions in MSKB articles for event ids 9554, 9330 and 9126 is a remedy.
Is there a tool or a way, maybe through editing the OAL GUID in the AD through ADSIedit, to correct this issue please.

Thanks
Yba
