Hi. My problem is as follows

My exchange server can receive external emails. How ever I cannot send mail externally.

The error message is a follows.

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'someone@external.com'. Subject 'Re: test', Account: '', Server: '', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for someone@external.com', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

What could be the possible reasons?

Your help is appreciated.

Check settings for SMTP Connector, make sure Address space * is set up for all other email domains and configured to go to ISP mail server to outside world.

I am using a Smart Host (ISP's mail server) and
an SMTP Connector (which im not too sure what it does?).

Still no go unfortunatly. Same error message appears about "unable to relay".

Anyone else got any other clues as to why I cannot send internal mail externally?

Receipt Policies
Primary @ExternalDomain.com (Registered)
Secondary @internaldomain.com

DNS forwards to gateway, which forwards to ISP
Smart Host points to ISP

Setup a new smtp virtual server with the ISP's server as the smart host. Ensure the 'atempt direct delivery' box is checked. Also set the DNS entry

Put the Host name as well as the IP address of  your exchange server in smart host routing option.
