Hi there, We have a Windows 2000, Exchange 2000 network, about 50 workstations. Recently I've installed Office 2003 along with XP on some of the workstations. Some of these new installations work fine, but others have a recurring problem where Outlook 2003 will be working fine, then it disconnects from the Exchange server and the user has to reboot to get reconnected, or Outlook simply freezes. I've taken off cache mode, I've taken off auto-detect for the network connection and made it 100mbps full duplex. At first I thought it was a problem with workstations connected to cheaper 8 port switches which connect to our main switches, but even if the machine is connected directly to the main switch it can still sporadically disconnect. Done numerous searches but can't find the solution to this problem. Again, one or two of the Outlook 2003 machines work fine, while other workstations with the same hardware specs as the above, keep disconnecting. I've had to reinstall those ones with Office 2000, and it works fine. Most of our workstations are Outlook 2000 and we do not have this sporadic disconnection problem. These are some of the event logs when the disconnect happens: Event ID 1517 Userenv: Windows saved user, etc, while an applications was still using the registry during logoff. It says trying configuring services to run in ither LocalService or Network Service account.....but then why do some of the Outlook 2003 work? Another Event is: Event ID 1053 Windows cannot determine the user or computer name (The RPC server is unavailable) Another event is: Event ID 1002 Hanging Application Outlook.exe I've read some info that Outlook 2003 cache mode doesn't work that well with Exchange 2000, but it still doesn't work consistently even with cache mode disabled. Any ideas out there on why Outlook 2003 works on some workstations but not on others? Is it not suited to a Exchange 2000 environment? Any help would be greatly appreciated, mcambon

Hi Gregory, Sorry for taking awhile to get back to you. No, we never did find a solution....i disable the cache mode...some machines work, some machines have difficulty. There's a completely seperate network in the same building and the administrator running it has had a similar problem. I have also heard it's because we are running Exchange 2000, and that Outlook 2003 will work better with Exchange 2003. Sorry can't offer any help! I've been using Outlook 2000 instead for new installations, which is too bad.... mcambon
