I have set up a exchange 2007 server. Removed the old Exchange 2003 server and everything works. Execpt Outlook 2003 clients. I have been studing H.Walther articles on Mapi setting per user level. Interesting that there are setting on attribute: protocolSettings pr. user. Have tried to add/remove varius settings - restart InformationStore before testing, rebooted DC server. No luck. My Outlook client is being denied by this error message: 'The administrator of your exchange server has blocked the version of Outlook you are using. please contact admin for help.' Event viewer: I can se the source: MSExchangeFBPublish reports that Error initializing session for virtual machine XYZ. The error number is 0x80040111. Make sure Microsoft Exchange Store is running. Also, make sure that there is a valid public folder database on the Exchange server. all information store is running, and public folder is also mounted. Should i try to set up a new public folder structure in case the existing one has an error i do not know about? Any ideas are very welcome. Thank you in advance. Cheers Henrik

When you removed the old server, did you follow the procedure correctly, replicating all public and system folders to the new server? The error message that you have posted usually means what it says, but can also be tripped by a lack of the system folders, so if you haven't made the changes to restrict the Outlook version then I would be looking at the cause of the problem there. Have you run the best practises tool from the Toolbox? Simon.

i another thread of mine i had the following issue. I have migrated all mailboxes to Exchange 2007. Setup replication of PF onto new servers. After 48 hours replication time, I removed refereal to old exchange servers. Removed my two mailboxserver and frontend server. This was done without any problems. However i can not remove the old administrative group. When trying to remove it with MSESM it says: 'You may not delete this administrative group because it still has items in it.' There seems to be a remaining Public folder: Internet Newsgroups which i can not get rid off. When looking inside replication only the new server resides there. Would it be safe to delete this First Administrative Group simply by using ADSEEDIT, now that referal to old servers is gone? or is there some other way of handling this problem. I did remove the First Administrative Group with ADSIEDIT and it was deleted just fine. As you suggested the Public Folder did not mount properly and i did some REG in order to get it to work. Using ADSIEDIT to reg. a reference to the public folder tree. using msexchpftree attribute with a reference to the public folder store: http://msexchangetips.blogspot.com/2006/08/exchange-esm-missing-public-folder.html However it still doesent work. All other clients works fine. /cheers

Did you actually check that the content had replicated, or did you just wait and hope for the best? I am wondering if all the content did not replicate across. How did you remove the old servers? Using add/remove programs or something else? Exchange is very picky about how servers are removed, and also how content is moved and removed across. There should be no need to hack around inside ADSIEDIT for anything Exchange related. Simon.

i sure hope everything had replicated well. I sat new exchange servers as host on replication setting on each PF, and made sure the replication started by checking status. I then waited 48 hours. I took two exchange servers and removed them by running setup and choosing remove. No errors. The first/ and last exchange server (host master) i deleted the routing group, form/and to Exchange 2007. On both administrative groups. waited awhile before running setup. The server was uninstalled without problems. Wanted to clean all up and felt that the right thing to do was to remove the administrative group which Exchange 2003 was in. I recived an error telleing that the administrative group was not empty, and found the Internet News Group folder that could not be deleted. Is there a way to overcome this behavior im having. I will soon need Outlook 2003 support from my clients. Thanks /Henrik

after a lot of searching i concluded that the PublicFolder had gone bad. Either due to replication or reference due to deletion of First Administrative Group. I tried to delete the Offline Address Book reference to public folder, and tried to delete PublicFolder. But the reference that i sat via adsiedit had to be deleted as well. Replication was also an issue. After checking i was still not able to remove the PF store due to references. So i unmounted the PF store, took a copy of old PF db file, and deleted it. When trying to create a new i recreated the PF database. Restarted the server, and checked that the new PF store was mounted. After that i recreated the Offline Address Book reference and checked that each mailstore was connected to the PF and Offline Addressbook. (Properties for each store) And the Outlook 2003 clients are again able to connect to Exchange 2007. The only issue i face now i that Free/busy information has to be rebuild, and i might take awhile, but hope it solved my problem for now. Cheers and thank you for your help. /Henrik
