Running Exchange 2007 and ISA 2006

I have OWA working with FBA and ActiveSync working with basic. I would love to have OA working with NTLM authentication but for right now only have basic going. The problem I have is when a user comes into the building with their laptop for the day and basic authentication fails. The outlook client will revert to NTLM thus breaking authentication when they go back out on the road. My question is if there is a way to lock the outlook client's exchange proxy server settings to always use basic and never revert to NTLM?

Right after posting I just found this which took care of my issue:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/961112

Now that I have a fix in place I can try and get NTLM auth working. Any definitive guide out there?
