Hi,

We have installed exchange 2007 on windows 2008 standard edition server.
Everything internal works fine, we can send and receive, and uses outlook anywhere.

Some of our clients are users with laptops and they can use their computers outside our network as long as we have installed and set them up when they was in at the office.

Sow now to the problem we have gotten, earlier we could also allow client's that are somewhere else in the country using their homecomputer connect to their outlook account in outlook 2007 with http connection.

For some reason the system suddenly didn't allow anyone to do this, now everyone has to come in to the office and logon to the domain (Or add their computer to the domain first) for then set up the outlook config and then take this computer back to their home to use it there again.

Does anyone now why we can't use this solution longer?
Why can't our users use their homecomputers that is not connected to our network og joined the domain with outlook any longer?

Is there some script we can use to check the settings for this?

Regars

Two questions:

What have you done about the certificate(s) on the Exchange server?

Does OWA throw a certificate warning?

The owa works just fine without any warnings, also we can connect to the server with our mobile phones and outside the network with clients that has been set up in the network first.

When i try to connect to our emailserver with a new client from the outside i get an error about that it can't find the exchange server, and i need to be connected to internet or i need to be connected locally to the exchange server.

We have only one certficate installed on our server.

Regards,
Thomas

You probably need to go through your settings again.
On the server Outlook Anywhere needs to be enabled. Check that on the CAS.
I assume the firewall is OK because OWA (HTTPS TCP 443) is fine so probably no need to look there.
On the clients you will want to make sure all the host name settings are fine.

Unless you've changed something the act of enabling OA is all you need, so long as OWA is working 100% error or warning free over HTTPS.

Thanks for your fast reply, ok i will check my settings again.
Outlook anywhere is also enabled and has been like that since we installed it. But i can try to reload it.

But i guess it works since our clients can take their laptops outside an still receive emails and send emails.

The only problem we have is that they who doesn't have any laptops and want to use their home computer can't connect with outlook anywhere option.
What im thinking about is like when you have hosted exchange you get an information to insert on your home computer sow that you can receive your email.

Our firewall should also work fine since everything else works just fine :D

Thanks for all your help.

Regards
Thomas

Hmm, well if it works for corporate assets then I would stop looking at the server. Are you really sure that OWA works for users on their home machines without a certificate pop-up?

No the users have no problems with their laptops at home as long as they have been on our network first.

They don't get any pop up errors either, not on outlook web access site either :(

The weird part is that it worked just fine for about 1 month ago i think was last time we had a new computer signed on.
And we haven't changed it since either. We had some problems in the start with pop up errors for the clients locally but this was fixed with an dns entry and autodiscover entry.

Could it help to reinstall the CAS role? I have read that some has reinstalled this and things works but i haven't find anything about this issue specified.

Sow you could say im a little stuck here.
I have read thru every exchange books we has, and still searching on internet hoping to find anything.
At least something that says i don't have to reinstall the exchange server.

Regards,
Thomas

You're giving me conflicting information. I don't care about the Exchange server right now. I don't care about your corporate assets (all these laptops) right now.
Answer this.
If a user is on their personal PC at home and use OWA, do they get a warning?

That's the one thing I can't find a straight answer to at the moment.

Very weird then. I still wouldn't touch the CAS because it's working for your corporate assets.
