Using PFDAVadmin to connect to Public Folders to change permissions.  Appears to connect OK but when I go to expand Public Folders (or System Folders) in the tree view, all I see is an error message saying 'Could not expand /ExAdmin/ExAdmin//public%20folders/">https://<exchserver>/ExAdmin/ExAdmin/<domain>/public%20folders/: Name cannot begin with the '0' character, hexadecimal value 0x30. Line 1, position 412.

I don't have any Public Folders beginning with the 0 character, and I have also enabled http access to the public folders in case it was a certificate/permissions thing.

This might sound silly but can you check to see that the name of the public folder store didn't accidently get a space at the begining of the name.

Looked all over and can't find an instance of a blank space or owt anywhere.  In fact, I don't recall 'naming' the public folders at all.

This is originally an exch 2003 setup that I joined the 2007 server to, and then migrated the users and folders across and I don't remember any naming of the folders in the process.

I also get the same error message when I try to go into the individuals mailboxes - I can connect to All Mailboxes and see the users listed in the tree view, but when I try to expand their sub folders, I get another '0' character error message.  Hooray.
