i read some postings here .. now my problem is that our mail is getting hosted by an external company . the only way we can download those mails on out exchange server (we trying to set up) is with that mail essentials program ? so there is no way of doing it with only a clean install of exchange server 5.5 .

pls let me know

yes, exchange 5.5 can download mail from an outside hosting company. it's all in the internet mail service (IMS) setup.
