Hey there people,
any help gratefully received

Our server locked up and had to be powered off and on to get it back up, the exchange stores have failed to load and errors in the event log are stating that the E00.log is corrupt and unreadable, the databases are showing clean shutdown status. the stores won't mount, any idea's how to get out of this situation? i am currently ordering beer and pizza as feel a long night coming on!

First, what is the state of your backups?  Do you backup the Information Store, perform brick-level backups, or both?  When was the last full backup?  Do you perform incrementals or differentials?  Do you flush your logs?

sorry should have stated, there is no back up! (i have told them 1000 times) the logs are set to delete log files older then 7 days

Since the databases are in a clean shutdown state that means all the logs required to make it consistent have already been commited so in reality you do not need the log files. I am not saying to delete them!!! BUT move them to a different location out of the MDBDATA folder. Make sure you also move the e00.chk file out of its current location too. Leave only the EDB and STM files in their original spot and then manually try to mount the databases.

and get a backup or ghost or livestate of that machine done.
