Hello, I'm having a little trouble grasping how public folers are working between servers. I have inherited a network which has an Exchange 2003 Server and an Exchange 2007 Server. The 2007 server appears to be running all mail roles, Hub Transport, Client Access and Mailbox. The 2003 server appears to be a bridgehead server with it's only role being Public Folders and Mail Flow. I installed SP1 on the 2007 server which loaded a new snap in called Public Folder Management. I'm assuming the reason why public folders was still on the old 2003 server was because SP1 was not available at the time the previous administration went to Exchange 2007. I want to completely remove Public Folders from the 2003 server...they appear to be identical on both servers, ie. System Manager on 2003 and Public Folder Management on 2007. I did some tests by making changes in 3 different areas and the result seems the same. I added a folder on 2007 and it appeared in Outlook...I added a folder in 2003 and it appeared in Outlook, and finally I added and deleted some folders in Outlook and it was immediately reflected in 2003, however on the 2007 server the changes were not reflected until I came into work the next day, so I assume they replicated across. When I installed SP1 were the public folders copied to the 2007 server from the 2003? Can I simply delete all the public folders from the 2003 server or will they replicate across again...as you can see I'm more than a little confused. Thanks...

Mark, If your 100% sure that you've replicated all information from the public folders you can disable the synchronizing of the public folders. But why don't remove Exchange 2003 completely from your Exchange environment and let Exchange 2007 send all mail ? Regards, Johan
