I have Exchange 2003 running on Windows 2003. I have a request from a user to receive a notification upon receipt of new mail arriving in a public folder.
Anyone know how I can set this up?
I have read some things about setting up an event sink but haven't gotten any further.
thanks

Yep use event sinks you can associate a script based on an event. Have you had a look at CDO Live?

Can you explain in detail about this please?  We are desperately in need of implementing this.

Please note the message dates when you jump into a thread.  The previous messages above are over 3 years old and the other thread to which I responded is over a year old.  Better to create your own new thread.

As I noted in the other thread, you have to be an owner of the folder in question.  You'll then see an Administration tab when you open the properties.  You'll want to set up the Folder Assistant or configure it to be a Moderated folder.  You need to review the options and choose what is appropriate for you.
