We have 2 servers - Exchange 2003 SP2 and 2007. All mailboxes have been moved to 2007. Public folders are replicating between both servers. Any ideas how to allow the OWA to see the public folders? Under the Client access it shows that the /Public is still Exchange 2000 or 2003 and there is very little I can change here.

Accessing Public folders using the OWA interface have been removed inExchange 2007, instead you need to open a separate browser window and type https://server/public.

Henrik, Is there anything special that I must do to be able to use the Public virtual directory? I have moved a few mailboxes to 2007 and setup public folder replication (Which is working through Outlook), however whenever I try to login using the Public virtual directory I am getting a 404 Not Found error. If I turn off friendly error messages, I receive: No web site is configured at this address. I am experiencing the same errors with the Exchange virtual directory. OWA works fine however. Mailflow between my Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2007 server is working prefectly. I have tried to reinstall the CAS role and IIS two times now. I am pulling my hair out on this one!!

I still have my Exchange 2000 server up with the public folder store mounted, should I be able to view this using the public vdir? Also, any suggestions as to why I am getting the same error on the exchange vdir? Thanks for your insight Henrik.

Yes users with a mailbox stored on the Exchange 2007 server should still be able to access the PFs on the legacy server (by typing https://legacy_server/public in a browser). Of course, if you need to access PFs on this server from the Internet, you must public it on your firewall. When accessing mailboxes using OWA 2007, you should use the /owa vdir instead of the /Exchange vdir.

I seem to be getting the 503 error when I try to access public folders through OWA. (https://fqdn/public). In my test environment it was working fine while I still had an Exchange 2003 server present. Even when I had dismounted the public folders store on the Exchange 2003 server (after replicating to 2007) I was able to access public folders by going to (https://fqdn/public). After uninstalling the Exchange 2003 server this appears to be the only thing that doesn't work anymore. However after reading a few articles I an a little confused. Some people say that you can access them on a 2007 server via (https://fqdn/public) and others are saying that it's not supported. To clarify, can I use (https://fqdn/public) to access public folders through OWA or is this simply not supported in an Exchange 2007 environment after the 2003 servers have been removed?

Accessing PFs via OWA is only supported by connecting directly to a E2K3 server, so you cannot access PFs on a E2K7 server yet (SP1 will bring back this functionality).
