Hi,
Can some one give some information regarding puplic folder.What is for? and how can we best utilize it?

Public folder is used as shared directory through whcih you can access your resources i.e all members. like newsgroup
best example is...
user 1 and user 2 have their mailboxes and they are working for one selling department where they need to keep a track of their sales but if they keep it in their mailbox each one have to explain it and update each and every one. so instead of that they can have come resource folder which will be shared among them what ever user1 will update in shared directory it will be seen by user2 through shared directory,.

Hi Ismail,
Thank for your information.When i logon to exhange server and click on the public folder it gives the following error.
The SSL certificate server name is incorrect
id no c103b404
exchange system manager.
Some days back I installed SSL certificate from my localy CA in order to secure OWA.it is working fine.I did it in IIS.
The name i give during certificate configuration was the name of my domain i register in ISP(mail.mycompany.com) not my local domain name(mylocaldomain.com)
is this causing the issue or what?

r u using https://owa or http://owa for owa accessing?
the error you are getting is just because of 128 bit encrption under IIS is checked.. pls let me know if you are using http ryt now then you can remove it.
An SSL certificate is incorrectly published to the Exadmin virtual root in Internet Information Services (IIS).
You receive an SSL Certificate error message when you view public folders in Exchange System Manager

I also get this error about the SSL Certificate server name. I just created a company calendar and then went to the System Manager on my Exchange Server (2003 sp2) to give the folder permissions to all my users. As soon as I right click on that folder, this same error displays on the screen.
When you asked about http ryt, where is this setting found and what does ryt mean?

In unchecking the encryption, how do I know I did not make my Exchange server vulnerable?

Hi,
i followed the link and done the chnages now i can access the puplic folder fine BUT now when i access my OWA it gives me cerificate error and says that "" Cecurity Certificate presented by this website was issued to a different website address ........""
i am using my own CA.

Hi Ismail,
the problem is solved now, i removed the certicate again changed it back to the name of my ISP registered domain(which i changed to local domain name due to puplic folder), before this was giving problem with the puplic folder but now evry thing is fine and puplic folder is working with my ISP domain name certificate.
