Environment

Exchange OS = 2008 R2

Exchange with 2 nodes cluster environment. Two databases and each database is on each Exchange Server.

Problem

Does Exchange2010 HA Mailbox users can able to logon from a virtual HA name ?. Means we have two Exchange nodes in a cluster name exchange01 and exchange02 and the DAG/virtual name is Exchange.I want to logon via exchange.DomainName.com/Exchange ?(I dont want to logon via exchange01.DomainName.com/Exchange OR exchange02.DomainName.com/Exchange )

Hi,

You should place the CAS servers behind a load balancer. And change the internal/external url's for the servers. For reference you could have a look at this article:

http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2010/high-availability-recovery/load-balancing-exchange-2010-client-access-servers-using-hardware-load-balancer-solution-part1.html

Besides this creating a CAS array would be a nice option. This will configure Outlook to connect to the CAS array name instead of a single server which might cause issues in case of a failure.

Regards,
Johan

No issues
I have also tested the same scenario with two Servers with CAS+HT+MB role on each and in DAG configuration
exch01.domain.com
exch01.domain.com
and name of DAG is
dag01.domain.com

But for our users what we have done DNS server of user's network we have added an entry as mail.domain.com and gave the IP of dag01.domain.com in this case user is unaware of any HA etc

It's true it works but it can give issues since the fqdn to which they connect may change.

Nothing like that .. FQDN is not changed FQDN used to connect would be DAG  only . Just you need to ensure certificate thing only

Well best practice is to create a cas array because clients will connect to the cas array and not the dag

Yes you are right but if you have servers with typical installation of HT +MB +CAS on two hardware in DAG. Then the said work around is proposed
