Currently, I have an exchange 2010 server and all mailboxes are in 365 (hybrid deployment). All of our AD settings are synced using Azure AD connect.

What's the best way to upgrade the 2010 exchange server? I imagine that a side-by-side migration is the best way to go. Do I need a new certificate for the new server? What about licenses. Since all mailboxes are in 365, licenses are not needed?

I have other questions, but I rather someone point me to the right article/document on upgrading exchange in a hybrid deployment scenario.

Thank you.
