Hello Gentle Folks,

Request help on RFC 822. I am currently using MS Exchange 2000 Enterprise with Service Pack 3. The Exchange is running on Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 and all security updates at this time. The following issues is occuring;

Final-Recipient: rfc822;<charles@going.net>
Action: FAILED
Status: 5.4.7 (Maximum retry time exceeded)

This particular issue has occured twice with only one user so far. I reviewed Microsoft TechNet but that was not very helpful as far as how to resolve the issue.

If anyone could provide some direction as far as how I can resolve the problem, please let me know.

Have a Great Day!

RFC 822 relates to the transfer of electronic mail (e-mail) it specifies the standards for SMTP. You might want to check and make sure that either you SMTP server is set to send mail to your relay or it can lookup the proper MX record for a domain so it knows where it should try and connect.

Hope that helps
