I installed Exchange 2007 about two months ago and everything worked just fine. I then installed ISA server 2006 about two weeks after exchange and almost everything worked fine. I was able to get OWA working but not RPC over Https. I went through the whole process outlined by Thomas Shinder at ISAserver.org and everything was correct.

When I test the publishing rule in ISA, it gives a green check on autodiscover, OAB and Unified Messaging but fails everytime on the /RPC directory. I have gone on the Exchange server and checked all the settings and everything appears to be correct. Also the DNS server and its entries seem to be working alright.

When I run the remote connectivity test at http://testexchangeconnectivity.com everything succeeds until it gets to
Testing NSPI Interface on Exchange Mailbox Server
Attempting to ping RPC Endpoint 6004 (NSPI Proxy Interface) on "servername"
Failed to Ping Endpoint

Internally everything works fine. The autodiscover feature works and everything else. Externally the autodiscover feature works but then once it is setup in Outlook 2007, the program closes with an action cannot be completed message and I know this is because the RPC is not working.

Any Help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have already gone through and uninstalled and reinstalled the RPC and also reconfigured the whole web listener and publishing rule for RPC. When I browse to the RPC site locally it just gives the log in screen which to mean seems like the service is working fine internally.

Thanks again.

Sorry all for the trouble but I solved my own problem. After looking around and watching a training video I had from Trainsignal. I noticed that they mentioned to leave ignore client certificates checked. In my IIS, Accept incoming client certificates was marked and once I corrected this everything worked fine. All tests came back positive. I don't know exactly how this got checked but it did.

For anyone else who has this issue in the future, go into IIS management and right click on default web site. Then click the directory security tab and click edit at the bottom under secure communications. Then check ignore client certificates.
