hi,

You can't delete mailbox store directly unless and until you move the mailboxes. But i am crucious to know that why you want to delete the mailbox store because it is just an folder that's it. Even you can delete it from adsiedit.

I use to come up with a situation to delete the mailbox store but that is for some other reason but the thing i follow is
Create a new mailbox store, move the mailboxes and then delete the old mailbox store. Then in the new mailbox store i associate the offline address book by going to property general tab.

hi,

First of all confirm whether you have standard or enterprise edition.
you can check it in the applicaiton log
if you see 1216 event id : standard edition ( you can't have more then one mailbox store)
If you see 1217 event id : enterprise edition (Size is unlimited)

See the comparison link
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822440

If you have enterprise edition you need to decide whether you want to create a mailbox store or separate storage group.
Most of the time prefferred is different storage group.

Just you need to right click the Server create a new storage group and
under the storage group you just right click create new mailbox store.

hi Wan,

Thanks for the update.

1025 event id make feel that there is some corruption in your database.
I agree with jesper and andy suggestion because they want to you keep minimal impact on the database.

If i would come across :
> First i will take a backup of my existing database.
> Offline defrag and isinteg -fix (this should work) but in many company who are having the large size of database they don't want to do this.
So as an alternate option... we will go with creation of new mailbox store and moving the database. The move mailbox  is capable of filtering corrupted mailboxes.
> In my organization we use the trend of moving mailbox mainly for offline defrag or any data corrupt in the mail.
So here what you can do is if you have tried with offline defrag and isinteg and andy suggestion you can go with this option
> Create a Storage group and mailbox store
> Then move the mailboxes to the new mailbox store. but before that please ensure that you have good backup.

Q: "It appears the db is corrupt and the clients back up is not correct.  so doing what you have mentioned will clear up my log file.

how do you move the users and email from one stor to another and back agin. "

Ans: user account is associated with mailboxes so you just need to move the mailboxes.

hi wan,

Here is the deal for the mailbox movement...

I am assuming you have mailbox on First Storage Group => Mailbox Store.

I will create a New Storage Group (Say Second Storage Group) then i will create a mailbox store and will name it as "Secondary Mailbox Store)

Then i will move the mailbox from First storage group of mailbox store to Secondary mailbox store by following this url
Moving Mailboxes with the Exchange 2003 Move Mailbox Wizard
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Exchange_2003_Move_Mailbox_Wizard.html

Buddy,

Keep in mind that you do not delete the original store, since if its the first one it would contain system attendant mailbox.  If this is the first mailbox store search for System Attendant Mailbox within that, it is highly recommended not to delete the store that contains SA mailbox since that would cause problems with regards to Free/Busy.

My recommendation would be to move all the mailboxes and you can mount a blank store on the original store...after you are ready to bring back all the mailboxes to original store.

Awaiting your response.
