Hi There,

Looking for a quick pointer.....I am setting up an Active Directory Domain Controller (Windows 2003) with Exchange 2003.  We have a website setup and being hosted with an well-known provider. We have a POP connector setup and it is sending and receiving mail OK.  i have a few basic questions :

1. I have setup the server to have the domain accommodate-edinburgh.com.....should this really be accommodate-edinburgh.local??

2. Does the decision in Q1 impact if we can use OWA and Mobile push?

Thanks

Jamie

The name of the domain and the domain used for email have no connection to each other. You can use anything you like internally. However unless the domain is a .local then you should use a domain that you control.

I would suggest that you review your use of the POP3 connector. Whatever your reason for using that, I can provide you with a counter argument. There are no good reasons for using the POP3 connector.

Practically speaking Q1 wont be affected with any of the domains you choose.
Q2 specifically depends on the domain you create the certificates you create. Hence, bottom line i don't find any problem with your scenario.

Stuntman i guess they are using POP3 - else if they are using SMTP then the only change i would find is to take care of the MX Record being set up for the environment.
