I'm going to be rebuilding our Exchange 2003 server (running on Server 2003) this weekend, and wanted to make sure I don't miss something.  The priv.edb and the priv.stm files (mdbdata directory) live on a separate hard drive than the operating system.  I want to format and reinstall server 2003 and Exchange 2003 on the system drive, and remount the database in Exchange on the rebuilt server.  Is there a step or steps I am missing here?  Just wanted to check before I do it.

Basically make sure the entire MDBDATA folder containing the log files and priv1 EDB and STM plus the Pub1 EDB and STM files are safe in 2 locations. I would recommend the following:

1. resetting the computer account in AD for the exchange server.
2. Format and reinstall the OS on the exchange server with the same name so you dont have to worry bout reconfiguring outlook clients
3. Reinstall Exchange using the SETUP.EXE /DISASTERRECOVERY switch.
4. Reinstall all hotfixes and service packs to the same exchange level as it was previously
5. copy the edb and stm files to the newly created MDBDATA folder (but since this is a disaster recovery, it will create the folders in the same path they are in now) and mount the databases
