Hi, I hope that someone can help me here. I am looking for the steps to recreate the OWA and all of the other virtual directories that were wiped from my drive. I know how to do it in 2003, that doesnt work in 2007. Any help would be really really appreciated. Thanks in advance, Edward

Wiped? In which way? Perhaps it would be better do you a reinstall or resotre the server on another box using the Recover Server switch?

Wiped in the way that all of the directories are gone. I do not have another machine that I can install a beta product on. In 2003 one can use the metabase editor to remove a value, and restart the management process, which in turn would recreate the value and the directories. In 2007 that does not work. There are commands like create-owa for the powershell, but that is not working for me. -Edward

Hi, I created a vitual pc image with its own AD, DNS and IIS services. Installed exchange and now I have the virtual directories. I backed them up and put them on the exchange box I am trying to fix. It still does not work. This is one of the most frustrating things so far with exchange. Nevermind that I can't do just about anything from the GUI, but simple functionality to recreate the directories has not been carried over from the previous version. -Edward

Hi, Thanks for your replies! I've been to this page, and until i actually had the owa.xml file, I could not use the script. Also the script extension is now msh. I noticed that it only recreated the OWA directory, any idea on the others? I believe I saw some scripts to do this, im going to look into it further. I believe that this person is having the same issue that I am now having: LINK TO POST. Here are the details of my error: Request Url: http://localhost:80/owa/auth/error.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/owa/default.aspx User host address: 127.0.0.1 Exception Exception type: System.InvalidOperationException Exception message: Nullable object must have a value. Perhaps you will be able yo export the settings to an XML file on another E2K7 server, then import this file on the server that has this isssue. BTW the change from MSH to PS1 should be a problem either, just name the file MSH instead if you use beta 2 or a previous build.

Hi, I have already done that. I thought it would be easier to un/re-install exchange 2007. When it is trying to uninstall the client access role, it fails because it cannot find a file. Unless there is a log file somewhere, I have no idea what file it is. I am now in the process of copying the bin directory from the virtual pc to this one to compare, more than likely, they will be exact duplicates because noone has ever messed with the exchange directory. At that point, all i can think of is formatting the machine. -Edward

Woohoo! Ok so now I am back up, with exchange web and everything. I had to move active directory and dns off the machine. Then formated the machine, then had to remove all of the exchange objects. Installed exchange, mounted the database, did some other tweaking and now, I have exchange. I must tell you all, simply formatting an exchange server is not the way to go, because removing the active directory objects is a pain. Also, prior to doing any move, it is a good idea to have users export their mailboxes to pst files. I accidentaly removed myself from active directory, and was unable to open the ost file with the new user. I had to export the ost to a pst file, believe me, with the new standards of the new software (office 2007 and exchange 2007) the ebd and ost files are very different from the last versions. -Edward
