On our enviroment, we currently have an Exchange2003 box (exch2003) and I just finished installing a CAS2007 server (cas-01).  In the future, I will be setting up a Exchange2007 mailbox (exch2007) in the environment also.

I would like to know how to set up the CAS, so that when I type the OWA url (mail.company.com) from a website and want to log into my exchange mailbox (which is in 2003), it know which Exchange mailbox to go to.  Do I need to configure IIS?  DNS??

Thank you.

You don't need to configure that information as Exchange will figure where the mailbox resides. After installing the CAS role you may want to modify the CAS internal/external URL but the mailbox server is irrelevant. You do need to be aware that your Exchange 2003 users still need to access the CAS using the /exchange url otherwise their request will fail. I'd suggest you have your 2007 use the same URL because Exchange will redirect them to /OWA. Having one URL will help from a support perspective.

use this for cert install:

http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/high-availability-recovery/load-balancing-exchange-2007-client-access-servers-windows-network-technology-part1.html

use this for redirect:

use this to modify cert in case of mistakes:

Hi,
You don't have to configure anything. You just need to make sure that you have a SINGLE CAS role installed which will act as a Front end for your Legacy BE servers (Proxying).

You can simply use the same URL HTTPS://Owaurl/exchange  for exchange 2007 mailboxes and Legacy mailboxes. It will proxy the request to /OWA for 2007 mailboxes.

For only 2007 Mialboxes you can also use Https://Owaurl/owa but this url will not work for Legacy mailboxes.

So is there a way of having your mail.company.com address access the E2003 and E2007 mailboxes?

If I understand your problem correctly. As imaneophyte suggested.. Yes... You redirect the URL to /exchange and if the CAS box is installed properly it will send the 2K7 MBX users to /owa.
