Hi, While i am trying to create the public folder database in mailbox server role, an error occurs: "An exchange 2007 server on which an address list service is active cannot be found". To resolve this problem i have to start the 'microsoft exchange system attendant service' manually, but i am unable to start this service. If i check exchange setup.log, i have found 2 errors. 1) The user account is not a member of ' schema' or ' enterprise' admin. Though the user account is already a member of these 2 admins. 2) Active directory domain is in mixed mode, need to raise the domain functional level to windows 2000 native mode or above. Though it's already raised to windows 2000 native mode. I am unable to resolve these above problems. If somebody can give me suggestion,i ll be thankful. Thanks n regards

System attendant is the interface between Exchange and the Active Directory. If the SA service isn't not starting then you need to investigate why. That usually means it cannot connect or talk tot he domain controllers correctly. Is there a domain controller close to the Exchange server? Is it functioning correctly? My instinct is that this a domain/network issue, not Exchange. Once you sort the domain and/or network out things will work correctly. Simon.

Ping means nothing. Just that there is a packet going between the servers. It does not mean the server can communicate. You need to use tools like netdiag and dcdiag on the support tools to confirm connectivity. Can you try using THE administrator account, and not an equivalent? That will have the required permissions. I usually insist on using that account as any other account can be problematic. Simon.
