I removed my existing exchange 2000 server to make way for a new one with same name. I uninstalled exchange. I ran forestprep and domainprep on the Domain Controller but it is not giving me the choice of a new organization name. When I try to install exchange this error comes up:
"The component Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services cannot be assigned the action Install because: -aserver object for this server already exist in the administrative group "First Administrative Group". You must either remove this server object before installing, or run setup with "disasterRecovery"switch if you are attempting to recover this server.

I have run removeorg with the same results.

Can anyone HELP please. Thank you

After reapeted tries to install i get this error:

Setup failed while Creating Active Directory objects for Microsoft Exchange Server-Level Objects (error 0x80072030: There is no such object on the server.) .

Additional information:

Find Microsofts knowledge base article on how to complete remove exchange from active directory. This involves using ldap utility and registry editor.

You have 2 choices
1- install exchange with /disasterecovery option

or
2 - run dcpromo to delete your domain and rebuilt all your user accounts.

I haven't tried this yet, but I found this in the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Implementation and Administration training kit (page 174):

Install the Microsoft Windows 2000 Support Tools from the Windows 2000 CD-ROM (D:\support\tools\setup.exe). After the tools are installed, go to: start\programs\windows 2000 support tools\tools\ADSI EDIT. OK...now expand the Configuration Container[yourdomain.com], then expand the CN=ConfigurationDC=yourdomain.com, then expand the CN=Services folder, then delete the CN=Micrsoft Exchange folder.

Hope this works. Let us know if it works and if you are able to reinstall Exchange.

The problem is that you have not completely removed Exchange 2000 from your Active Directory environment. The below links describes how to properly remove E2K.
