I am attempting to remove an outdated Exchange server by running setup (instead of the alternative which is to remove the computer account - which is suggested for a manual remove).

The Exchange server in question is Exchange 2000 SP3 Enterprise (6.0.6249.4)

There are two entries for Exchange 2000 in Add/Remove programs and they both only allow me to update SP3.

If I put in the original Exchange 2000 CD and select remove it tells me I must use the same version of Exchange 2000 (standard or enterprise) to remove the server.

Anyone have any idea's on how to remove this using setup, or has anyone removed the computer account and exchange was removed from the site correctly?
Thanks

a few months ago i removed an exchange server by inserting the CD and running the setup. My Exchange was 2000 Standard SP3. It worked well except that it did not remove everything. I had to delete some entries from AD myself using the METADATA cleanup.

From digging into this servers past it appears this was an Exchange std, but then they filled the data store so they upgraded to Exchange enterprise.  Probably the cause of all my problems right there...
