Hi all,

i have winnt4 with SP6, and Exchange 5.5 with SP4 on the same server, Unfortunatly the server damaged with hardware failure, so we bought new server and we installed Winnt4 with SP6 and Exchange 5.5 with SP4, and we built our domain and users and mails exactly as the old server..
now.. can i retreive the mails from the Backup tape? i am using Veritas Backup Exec v9.1.

HI Mohammed,

Yes you can restore your data from backup provided that the exchange is installed with the same settings. I mean the site anme server name....etc.

You can also get this info by running the following command against the database

find /i "ou=" <path to the priv.edb>

This will dump the header of the database and give you the site and org names.

An event would be generated in app logs if things dont match.
