I have two Exchange 2003 servers and I would like to route inbound and outbound email to go through the CAS server.  How do I do this?

Well, from the sounds of it, you already have 2k7 installed.

Lookup get-routinggroupconnector.  You may or may not have one yet.

If not, you'll need new-routinggroupconnector.

After you put together a new one, you will have to remove the "*" domain from the e2k3 side of things.

I actually have 3:

CAS - E2k3/1
E2k3/1 - CAS
E2k3/2  (This one I created myself and the remote bridgehead points to CAS)

The first two were created automatically when I installed the CAS.

Basically we always had e2k3/1 then the CAS was built and recently e2k3/2 was built.

When I check the message tracking on the CAS, no messages are showing up.
I don't think its routing through the CAS.

hi mate,

correct me if i m wrong
for sending\receiving email we need to have HUB transport server rather then having CAS. CAS only resolves the users mailbox request information on behalf of mailbox

if the above statement making sense means if it is correct then
just you set HUB server
What you need to do here is for sending email - you need to create one internet connector and set the cost to 1 and send connector in Exchange 2003 set to some other value. (This will take care for sending email)

For receiving email just point this exchange 2007 server as first of point of contact rather then 2003 - this will take care of receiving.

If i misunderstand - i apologize but would appreciate if you clear it out for me so that i can help you.

Sorry the HUB and CAS are on the same server.

On the HUB/CAS, I already have one internet connector set with address as * and cost as 1.

On the Exchange2003, I also have a SMTP connector set with address as * and cost as 1.

How do I point the Exchange2007 server as first point of contact????

Thanks.

hi mate,

All you need to do is change the cost of Exchange 2003 to some other value like 5 or 10.
Then restart the Routing enging and SMTP service. This should work for you

How about for emails coming inbound?  I noticed the client and default receive connectors but do I need to create a new receive connector to have external email come in?

Currently, our email inbound email hits mxlogic and then it is sent to Exchange2003, how can I set the HT so it works the same way?

Thanks for your help btw.

Here's the different methods for sending/receiving e-mail:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998212.aspx

One of the sub-articles in there is how to configure your Hub Transport for sending and receiving internet e-mail.
