I am trying to get the native Pop3 Connector on our SBS 2000 server to download email from our web-hosted pop accounts.

background: All latest service packs are install for SBS 2000 and components. Our email addresses follow the naming convention of: john.doe@domain.com. Our local user accounts follow the naming convention of jdoe@domain.local. Our company email is currently being hosted by a web-based email host.

The problem is that the pop3 connector grabs the user's email (john.doe@domain.com) and routs it to the appropriate local Exchange mailbox (jdoe@domain.local), just like it's supposed to do--but only if jdoe@domain.local is set as the primary reply-to addresses under the Email Addresses tab in the user's properties. And this reply-to address obviously goes nowhere. If I add john.doe@domain.com into the Email Addresses in Exchange and set that as the primary reply-to, no email will appear in that user's local Exchange mailbox. The pop3 connector is still downloading the pop email (I have verified this), but somehow doesn't put it in the user's local Exchange mailbox, or anywhere else for that matter. It goes down a black hole, without generating any errors, any queues, or bounced emails. If I go back into AD and set the user's primary reply-to address back to jdoe@domain.local, from then on the emails will once again start appearing in the the local Exchange mailbox. But here again anyone replying to this email will reply to jdoe@domain.local and this doesn't go anywhere.

In a nutshell, I need to change the user's primary reply-to address to john.doe@domain.com and have that email get routed to jdoe@domain.local. I thought this would be easy, I'd just need to confgure the pop3 connector, which I've done and I believe correctly--but changing the primary reply-to address causes the user's local Exchange mailbox to receive no incoming mail. So I'm stuck here.

What am I overlooking?

Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem.  Have you found a solution to this yet?
