I have a few questions that don't seem to be clearly define or documented around SCC and SCR process.

I have an Active/Passive SCC setup in our production datacenter. Can I install the a single mailbox role in the backup datacenter and ship logs to it and still run /CMSrecover switch to test failover process even though it isn't setup as a passive node? I have already verified the logs are shipping and at the point of testing. I am trying to get around having to install failover clustering services in the backup datacenter.

I ended up reinstalling exchange and installed failover clustering even though its only one machine. I then was able to install exchange as a passive node. After this was complete it doesn't show up in the exchange management console, this makes me feel weird that the /CMSRecovery switch isn't going to work properly. Any one know if this is normal behavior?

doohder,

A passive node of a cluster will not show up in the Exchange Management Console. Only the Clustered Mailbox Server name will appear in the EMC or a non-clustered server installed with the mailbox role.
