Do you need Exchange Enterprise to do SCR and/or CCR?

A simplistic view; if you're running a single SCR Source server on standard edition, then your SCR target can be standard as well. Remember Exchange 2007 standard edition only allows 5 databases.

Thank you guys! Another thing, If I have a Mailbox Server and a combined CAS & HT Server, where does the antivirus software go? Should it be the mailbox server or the HT server, or maybe the CAS server?

That’s a sensitive question and one you or your management and/or security team would have to answer. Personally, since all traffic(even local delivery) is transported across the HT server I would run it there and remove the load off my mailbox servers.

Another possibility is to implement AV on the mailbox server as well, but disable the real-time scan and perform a manual trawl once a week as an additional check.

I would recommend have an Exchange Aware AV on Hub & Edge role since at that location the emails gets received / sent - in other words processed completely. What you could install on mailbox role then ? Simple File-Level AV - since you would already have Exchange 2007 Anti-Spam Agent so that should clean some mess + Hub role AV.

Forefront has transport scanning and store scanning, the latter of which contains both realtime and manual scans.
