Hello All,

First time poster so I put the question here in General, if there is a better place for this thread then by all means please move it.

I have a Exchange 2003 server that for the last week has had some funny issues.

This machine has been in production for years, and has not had any configuration changes that I know of.

I have looked it over many times in the last three days, and I am not seeing anything wrong with its setup or config.

The issue is with inbound connections, reported by users when MFPs would get up to a 10 minute delay sending scans to email, and reports that external senders are getting "delayed" bounce back NDRs.

I have been digging and I see that there are always current sessions with the deafult SMTP virtual server, between 50 and 250 depending on time of day, and these sessions can stay connected as long as the default 600 secs others connect and close as they should.

Right now I have 82 sessions with a few connected as long as 230 secs.

Something is wrong and I am stuck as to what to look at next.

thanks in advance
