I am planning our migration from 03 to 07. I'm trying to determine if there any downsides to installing Exchange 07 on server 2008.

Licensing is not an issue for 2003 or 2008 and I will be using LCR so clustering is not an issue as well.

Can you share your thoughts on this?

2007 on 2008 is your best route. 2003 is going to be heading out of normal support fairly soon so you will need to go with 2008.
This is important because you CANNOT upgrade a Windows Server 2003 box with Exchange 2007 already installed to Windows 2008. You would need new hardware to migrate to and re-format the box you migrated from.

I thought about the end of life for server 03 and I understand about the migration from server 03 to 08 if I start with 03 (new server, migrate exchange to it).

I have also been using server 08 for other roles (non exchange related) but I wanted to throw out the question to see if anyone had issues with running 07 on 08.

My guess is it will work fine and Microsoft probably recommends it (supporting documentation anyone?) but again I wanted to put it out on the forum and ask those who have done it.
