Hello, I am running Exchange 2007 on Server 2003. I have a shared mailbox set up that works fine. I can access it via OWA by first logging in as myself to OWA and then selecting "Open Other Mailbox" and choosing the shared one. I have a user though who has no email of his own but needs to have access to the shared mailbox. Is there a way to have a user log straight into the shared mailbox? Thanks in advance Stephen

Thanks for the reply Lee. That unfortunately didn't work. It just took me to the login screen. If I however was logged into OWA with my personal account then yes your suggestion worked. So really this is not an option. Thanks again

Do you mean that you wanted the user to be able to access the mailbox without logging in?

Hi all, Sorry for the late reply, I was pushed off to an alternate project. The suggested solution did work. If I go to https://servername/owa/user@domain.com and login with the user then I get access directly to the shared mailbox. Problem I have now is that when the user logs in, they cannot "send on behalf as" and because they do not have an actual email account other then the shared, when I try and add them there is no account for me to add? Any idea? Thanks angain

Doesn't the user accessing the shared mailbox have a domain account? As far as I can tell, if you select the mailbox in EMC, and click Manage Send As Permissions, you can select an account name, not just a mailbox name.

Hi, Thanks for the help. Apologies again for the late reply. Something strange is happening. With some users, I am able to add their AD Account into the "Send AS" Permissions and they can send from the shared mailbox, however other AD Accounts I cannot. I get the error "You do not have permission to send on behalf of:" Thanks again in advance

I have even added the users to an AD Group and Added the AD Group to the "Send AS" Permissions with no luck. Are these settings perhaps not instant and need time to kick in Thanks again

It should only take a few minutes for the changes to have an effect, unless your AD isn't replicating properly.
