We have been having some issues with some of the features with Exchange 2010 that a previous person has setup.

Current issues are:

- Mail tips don't work
- Mail tracking doesn't work
- Out of Office doesn't work
- Can't share a calendar in Outlook 2010 only works in 2007
- Can't connect a Mac using Outlook
- Webmail options don't work - I keep on getting a login page.

My current version of Exchange 2010 is 14.00.0722.000.

Instead of trying to update the the exchange server and hoping that it would fix all my issues I decided just to create a new VM and just finished installing all the Windows updates. I'm now at the point to ready to install Exchange 2010/sp1 but I'm wondering if this is my best options.

I have no idea what the other person has done but I have now inherited this mess and I want to get it fixed.

What would you do? Are all my problems related? If I create a new Exchange server, it is easy to move the mailboxes over? I'm at a total lost of what I should do so I need some suggestions.

Thanks for your help.

James

Personally I would NOT migrate to another server. I would try and resolve the issues you are seeing. Whats to say that the issues will not be on the new server?! You have to remember that the configuration of Exchange is not on the local server but stored in active directory so installing a new server will not necessarily fix the issues!

To me it seems that some of these issues are related to autodiscover not being properly configured. Is this a single exchange server environment (all roles in one server) or do you have the roles split on different servers?

Were these things ever working or did you inherit the environment the way it is?

can you run get-autodiscovervirtualdirectory | FL and also get-webservicesvirtualdirectory | FL on the CAS server and post the results? Please hide your domain/server names if you wish before posting but let us know what you are using for your webmail URL.

I also noticed that I have redirection set to virtual directory such as /Exchange, /Exchweb, or /Public.

Finally got web mail working correctly externally but still having issues with internal web mail, I still can't access the options. Also OOO still doesn't work in Outlook.

I'm also showing this error.

The certificate for the URL https://servermail.md.local/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml is incorrect. For SSL to work, the certificate needs to have a subject of servermail.md.local, but the subject that was found is mail.md.org. Consider correcting service discovery, or installing a correct SSL certify

I would prefer not to install the certificate again and I don’t know how to correct service discovery.
