How come some of my clients type:  mail.server.com/exchange to get into their email BUT others have to type:  serveripaddress/exchange?

The ones that can only connect using the IP address aren't resolving name mail.server.com.  You have some sort of DNS issue.  Use IPCONFIG /ALL to see where those clients are pointing to get DNS.  Compare that to where the others get DNS and make changes accordingly.

I'm sorry, it's when ANYONE tries to use OWA, we have to type in the IPaddress/exchange - instead of mail.domain.com/exchange.

Now I've come to find out that even typing:  ipaddress/exchange doesn't work - any suggestions?
