I have a problem routing outbound email based on source domain on the same exchange 2007 server

The setup is like this - i want all mail from subdomain.domain.tld to go directly out to the internet but i want all mail from domain.tld to go through a smarthost that does mail archiving so that *@domain.tld gets archived and *@subdomain.domain.tld just gets sent out directly

I read somewhere that you can use security groups to allow and deny who gets to use what send connector but i cant seem to find much info about the subject anywhere
---------------------------
Update :

used some of the Gold partner resources we got available and MS suggested using adsiedit to deny groups on the send connector - This did not work though as even though the security groups containing the users i wanted not to send through a smarthost was added with deny everything on the send connector it would still send through it.

Not sure if that makes much sense to me but a hint may be that in exchange 2003 you have to enable evaluation of send permissions through a registry edit and im wondering if the same holds true for exchange 2007

I have a similar requirement for which i have not been able to find a solution as yet.

If you get a solution please do let me know. I will do likewise if i get one.
